🎓 Who am I?

I am a Dutch Computer Scientist (MSc) specializing in the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering, with a strong research interest in Artificial General Intelligence, Computational Neuroscience and Artificial Life.

My goal is to translate complex and challenging problems of any nature into reliable models, software, and systems.

  • Research Experience: I completed my Master’s at TU Delft, where my thesis project, VAE-based Multivariate Normative Modeling: An Investigation of Covariate Modeling Methods, was conducted in collaboration with Erasmus MC. The work focused on using deep generative models (VAEs) to characterize individual deviations in brain measures while investigating how to control covariates such as age, sex, and site-related batch effects that are present in clinical datasets.
  • Software Engineering Experience: I’ve built a wide variety of systems, ranging from educational software for Project Hersenspin (a program from ErasmusMC), to the backend and server infrastructure for the online multiplayer gaming network HauntedMC, research software like the Toolkit for Multivariate Normative Modeling, and AI software like the GATorch library. My latest project is Mylonite: a self-hosted portfolio website solution.
  • The "Toolbelt": I’ve ended up working with a pretty wide range of languages and frameworks over the years. It has made me less attached to any single "favorite" tool and more focused on just picking whatever makes the most sense for the project at hand.
  • Systems & Infrastructure: I also have a background in system and network administration. I tend to think about the full lifecycle of what I build, so I'm used to handling infrastructure, containerization, deployment, and making sure things actually stay running.

☕ Beyond the Code

When I’m not at a keyboard, I’m usually staying active through fitness and running. I have a long-standing interest in the Minecraft community, both from a technical perspective and as a long-term project. I also enjoy tinkering with embedded systems and robotics, which allows me to explore how software and AI can interact with our physical world. To round things out, I'm a big fan of a well-made coffee and have a bit of a fascination with Australia, whether it's the landscape, the cities, or the lifestyle.
