I am currently doing an internship in **[Roberto's]({{< relref "/authors/admin/_index.md" >}})** group, where I am working on Differential Dynamic Microscopy (DDM) to study the dynamics of soft materials. My project focuses on developing machine-learning–based methods to estimate particle size distributions from DDM data, enabling robust analysis of complex samples. My research experience includes the application of machine learning to problems in statistical physics and biological systems.

I joined the SoMeX Lab at the University of Vienna in March 2026 as a postdoctoral researcher working with **[Roberto]({{< relref "/authors/admin/_index.md" >}})**. My research lies at the interface of soft matter physics, microfluidics, and biophysics, focusing on how microscopic objects and biological systems respond to mechanical forces and complex environments.

I obtained my PhD in Physics from Université Paris Cité, conducting research at the [PMMH (Physique et Mécanique des Milieux Hétérogènes)](https://www.pmmh.espci.fr/-Home-) under the supervision of [Anke Lindner](https://blog.espci.fr/alindner/people/principal-investigator/) and [Olivia du Roure](https://blog.espci.fr/oliviaduroure/). My doctoral work investigated the transport and deformation of rigid and flexible fibers in microstructured flows using microfluidics and quantitative imaging. After completing my PhD, I continued as a postdoctoral researcher at PMMH, where I investigated the interaction between bacterial suspensions and flexible fibers.

Within the [MechanoSynth project]({{< relref "/project/25-11-01-mechanosynth/_index.md" >}}), I study the multiscale mechanical responses of biomimetic and biological materials using quantitative microscopy, opto-rheology, and microfluidic platforms.

<strong>Probing fluctuation-induced forces in non-equilibrium fluids</strong>

[Casimir forces](https://pubs.aip.org/physicstoday/article/74/1/42/396280/Science-and-technology-of-the-Casimir-effectCaused) emerge when fluctuating fields are confined, as seen between uncharged, conducting plates in a vacuum or in fluids near a critical point. Out-of-equilibrium fluids exhibit even stronger fluctuations, which theory predicts should generate remarkably large Casimir-like forces in confined spaces. However, measuring these forces experimentally remains a challenge. In this project, we aim to overcome this barrier by using advanced optical techniques to track the interactions of colloidal particles suspended in a complex medium with giant fluctuations driven by diffusion or thermophoresis. Our goal is to provide the first direct experimental evidence of non-equilibrium Casimir-like forces - offering exciting new insights into fluctuation-induced interactions in soft matter physics.

<strong>AI-Enhanced Differential Dynamic Microscopy for Probing Complex Soft Matter Dynamics</strong>

[Differential Dynamic Microscopy (DDM)](https://pubs.aip.org/aip/jcp/article/163/16/161501/3369109/The-Hitchhiker-s-guide-to-differential-dynamic) combines real-space imaging and light scattering to quantify microscopic dynamics in soft and biological materials. While DDM has become a powerful and widely adopted technique, new challenges arise when imaging complex systems where scattering becomes multiple or dynamics are heterogeneous. In this project, students will contribute to extending DDM by implementing and benchmarking AI-based pipelines for automated data analysis and feature extraction. The project combines hands-on experience in optical microscopy with data analysis and offers immersion in a vibrant interdisciplinary environment at the interface between physics, materials science, and machine learning.
