Using the customisizer interface

The OpenSCAD source provides a simple to use customizer interface that allows you to select any of the robot parts as well as a selection of diagrams used for documentation.

The customizer is split into three sections:

  • Main
  • Parts
  • Assembly Guide

These sections are documented below.

Customizer - Main

The main section allows you to select the category of displayed item. 'Parts' will show any selected items from the Parts customizer (see below) and 'Assembly steps' will show any selected items from the Assembly Guide customizer.

Customizer - Parts

The Parts customizer allows you to select any of the individual parts that make up the robot. In addition there is a checkbox 'Display parts ready for printing?'; if the checkbox is selected the parts will be displayed ready for rendering with the correct surface (for the 3D printer's bed) on the axis. Do not render and export to STL without this checkbox being ticked. If the checkbox is not ticked the source will display the part for viewing (with a logical centre-point and colour parts as appropriate).

Customizer - Assembly Guide

The Assembly Guide customizer allows you to display any of the diagrams used in the wiki documentation (sub-assembly, assembly and parts assembly). In addition, there is an option to display the complete robot along with the original Philips stepper motors.
