The current list of countries is not up to date. i.e. it has "Yugoslavia" and not "Serbia".
The ISO3316 list has in some cases very official sounding names. Instead of "Syria" it has "Syrian Arab Republic". Not sure if it is best to use the official name or the name that is commonly used.
