Use http for all the git modules, not just some of them
Don't delete the downloads at the start of the script
The system's zlib is built using a different libc than we are targeting. This causes build errors when pciutils autodetects zlib as present.
Causes compilation issues in a mixed 32/64-bit environment. As pylibmount is not used, just skip it to avoid the issues.

This makes it easier to install the dependencies and make a successful build.

Some build fixes I needed to build on a fresh install of Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Some documentation improvements. Some quality of life improvements.
Tested ok with cdrom install and cd boot and floppy boot.
