With the massive disclaimer that I haven't tested this beyond checking for syntax errors, this PR makes some minor tweaks for Python 3 compatibility, removes some unused imports, and reformats the Python code to be PEP8 compliant in terms of indentation and formatting.
autopep8still complains on some line lengths but everything else is good.
