PR Summary

Medium Risk
Token/codegen output changes for @hashintel/ds-theme can alter generated token names/availability and may break strict-token consumers if any skipped keys were previously relied on; other changes are additive (stories/docs) and low risk.

Overview
Refines ds-theme Figma→Panda token generation to skip WIP/hidden variables: introduces shouldSkipKey() (keys starting with -/_) and applies it across color/semantic token generation and spacing/typography/radii generation, preventing private keys from being emitted.

In ds-helpers, adds internal Ladle tooling and stories to support upcoming token/recipe work: a HeadStyle utility for injecting/removing shared <style> tags, plus new token stories for virtual colorPalette CSS var remapping and Radix→HASH gray scale mapping (adds @radix-ui/colors/color2k dev deps and wires stories into theme.stories.ts).

Also includes small repo hygiene/docs updates: adds an Augment shared rule config, ignores agentprofile .envrc files, tidies ds-components/AGENTS.md tables, and adds Park UI porting reference docs/diagram, with a changeset bumping @hashintel/ds-theme and @hashintel/ds-helpers (patch).

🤖 Augment PR Summary

Summary: Follow-up refinements to the design-tokens pipeline and ds-helpers stories after the recent ds-* token architecture changes.

Changes:

  • Introduce shouldSkipKey() and apply it across token/color generation to skip private/WIP Figma keys prefixed with - or _.
  • Extend generation scripts to skip internal names at multiple levels (core colors, semantic categories, spacing scales, typography/radius entries).
  • Add Vitest coverage for the new skip behavior in transforms.
  • Add Ladle utilities and stories: a HeadStyle injector, a “virtual colors (colorPalette)” demo, and a Radix→HASH gray mapping visualizer.
  • Update story exports so the new stories show up in the theme story index.
  • Add a changeset for patch releases of @hashintel/ds-theme and @hashintel/ds-helpers.

Technical notes: The token-generation changes reduce noise from hidden/internal Figma variables and help prepare for Park UI slot-recipe porting and color-mapping work.

Incorrect fallback in HeadStyle cleanup reference counting

Medium Severity

The cleanup function uses ?? 1 as a fallback when retrieving the reference count, while the mount logic uses ?? 0. This inconsistency causes incorrect behavior if refCounts.get(id) ever returns undefined during cleanup. With the 1 fallback, the count becomes 0 after decrement, triggering premature element removal even when other component instances may still need it. The fallback should be 0 to match the mount logic, or absent entirely since the count should always exist during cleanup.

Duplicated swatch styling across story files

Medium Severity

The swatchStyles and labelStyles CSS objects are duplicated across three story files with only minor variations. Each file defines similar swatch dimensions, border radius, and label styling independently.

HeadStyle removes style on css updates

Medium Severity

HeadStyle increments refCounts inside a useLayoutEffect that depends on css, so the cleanup runs on every css change and can drop the count to zero, removing the <style> element even though the component is still mounted. This can reorder CSS in document.head and cause subtle cascade changes.

Skip logic drops valid hyphen keys

Medium Severity

shouldSkipKey() treats any key starting with "-" as private/internal, so valid token keys like negative numeric steps (e.g. "-1") or conditional keys (e.g. "_dark"/"_light" if they ever appear as object keys) would be silently dropped during token generation.
