I don't see any reference to .bak autosave files being common for MATLAB projects.
Can you include a justification for this change, or explain what tooling will generate these by default?

.bak files are backup copies of the version prior to the last save. While the MATLAB Editor now primarily uses .asv for autosaves, .bak files are still generated by Simulink and other toolboxes to ensure data recovery. |
