💡 What:

  • Added a global :focus-visible style for better keyboard navigation visibility.
  • Enhanced the product selection grid with ARIA roles, tabindex, and keyboard listeners (Enter/Space).
  • Improved the Private Pass modal with auto-focus and Enter-key submission.
  • Added aria-live to the AI result container for screen reader feedback.
  • Optimized the IntersectionObserver to unobserve elements after they appear.

🎯 Why:

  • The interface was not fully accessible for keyboard-only or screen reader users.
  • Modal interactions required unnecessary clicks (no Enter support).
  • Performance was suboptimal due to continuous intersection checks on visible elements.

📸 Before/After:

  • Focus state is now visible (gold outline) instead of browser default or hidden.
  • Modal input is automatically focused on open.

♿ Accessibility:

  • Full keyboard operability for product selection and modal submission.
  • Screen readers now announce AI results dynamically.
  • Modal is correctly identified as a dialog.

Code Review

This pull request introduces a series of valuable accessibility and user experience enhancements. The changes, including adding keyboard navigation, proper ARIA roles for interactive components, and a global focus style, significantly improve usability for all users, especially those relying on assistive technologies. The performance optimization to the IntersectionObserver is also a welcome improvement. My review includes one suggestion to enhance the reliability of the auto-focus functionality on the modal.

const modal = document.getElementById('private-pass-modal');
modal.style.display = 'flex';
const input = document.getElementById('private-pass-input');
if (input) setTimeout(() => input.focus(), 100);

Using a setTimeout with a fixed 100ms delay to focus the input can be unreliable and may introduce a noticeable lag. Since the modal's visibility is toggled via the display property, there are no transitions to wait for. A more robust approach is to use requestAnimationFrame to focus the element on the next paint, ensuring it's visible without an arbitrary delay.

Suggested change
if (input) setTimeout(() => input.focus(), 100);
if (input) requestAnimationFrame(() => input.focus());
