These instructions apply to most services. It may NOT apply to special events, such as Christmas and concerts. Check with the Tech Director if not sure.

Before the Service

  1. Press the "Reset Everything" button to reset the mixer to our starting places, with default settings.

  2. Turn on the amplifiers using the key switch next to the mixer.

  3. Figure out what mics you need for the service:

    • If Jonny is preaching (or speaking a bunch), he will need his headset, which has the red bands.
    • If anyone else is preaching, he will need the other headset, which has no colored bands.
    • For the morning services, we typically use Jonny's wireless mic pack, even if he isn't preaching.
    • For the afternoon and evening services, we typically use the "Other" wireless mic pack.
    • For communion, get a handheld mic. We typically use Black for communion.
    • For sequential translation (from the front), get a handheld mic. We typically use White for this.
    • For a lectern on the floor (Afternoon Service, etc), use the mic on a stand and plug it in near the piano.

ALWAYS use a headset mic for the preacher. Wireless mics can be expected to work for about five hours without charging.

  4. Test your inputs. Work with the other team members, especially the recording audio person.

  5. Mix well!

After the Service

  1. Reset the mixer by pressing the Reset Everything button.

  2. Turn off the amps using the key switch.

  3. Return the mics to their storage locations. Make sure the wireless mics seat into their chargers correctly.

Troubleshooting

If the mixer says that it was not shut down properly, you can safely dismiss this message.

If the mixer has lost its audio, this can probably be corrected by restarting the offending component:

  • If the audio is missing from specific channels only, check the source: is the mic pack turned on and charged? Are the cables connected?
  • If it has lost audio from ALL inputs, restart the mixer. To do this, go to Utilities, and then the Power option. You'll need to toggle the power switch on the back-right side.
  • If sets of channels have lost their connection (e.g. channels 1-16 or 17-32), restart the relevant input rack in the Catacombs or Control Room. Please make sure the Tech Director is at least aware of this situation.
