When the bindings provider is a descendant of some application launched by the Steam client (e.g. someone used OpenVR-Autostarter to start the server, or the Steam client itself launched SlimeVR as a SteamVR overlay when that launch option is used, which then launched the bindings provider), it will inherit the app key of that application...
I love SteamVR :)
