This patch adds a "cdrom" sysfs entry for each mass_storage LUN, just like "ro" sysfs entry. This allows switching between USB and CD-ROM emulation without reinserting the module or recompiling the kernel.

This patch is needed for DriveDroid to be able to switch between USB and CD-rom modes. At the moment the OnePlus 2 is hardcoded to be in CD-rom mode. That means users cannot use their phone as a writable USB drive. Allowing USB mode will allow people to boot from USB and for instance run a Windows installation from their phone.

This change has been merged into several CyanogenMod kernels, so in general the patch should work. However, since I do not own a OnePlus 2, I have not been able to test the patch on this device.

When in repair-mode and TCP_RECV_QUEUE is set, we end up calling
tcp_push with mss_now being 0. If data is in the send-queue and
tcp_set_skb_tso_segs gets called, we crash because it will divide by
mss_now:

"magic" with netem, sk_pacing and limit_output_bytes is done to prevent
the kernel from pushing all segments, because hitting the limit without
doing this is not so easy with packetdrill):

This happens since ec34232 (tcp: fix retransmission in repair
mode). Prior to that, the call to tcp_push was prevented by a check for
tp->repair.

The patch fixes it, by adding the new goto-label out_nopush. When exiting
tcp_sendmsg and a push is not required, which is the case for tp->repair,
we go to this label.

When repairing and calling send() with TCP_RECV_QUEUE, the data is
actually put in the receive-queue. So, no push is required because no
data has been added to the send-queue.

We can end up allocating a new compression stream with GFP_KERNEL from
within the IO path, which may result is nested (recursive) IO
operations.  That can introduce problems if the IO path in question is a
reclaimer, holding some locks that will deadlock nested IOs.

Allocate streams and working memory using GFP_NOIO flag, forbidding
recursive IO and FS operations.

clockevents_increase_min_delta() calls printk() from under
hrtimer_bases.lock. That causes lock inversion on scheduler locks because

Fix the problem by using printk_deferred() which does not call into the
scheduler.

It is possible for ata_sff_flush_pio_task() to set ap->hsm_task_state to
HSM_ST_IDLE in between the time __ata_sff_port_intr() checks for HSM_ST_IDLE
and before it calls ata_sff_hsm_move() causing ata_sff_hsm_move() to BUG().

This problem is hard to reproduce making this patch hard to verify, but this
fix will prevent the race.

I have not been able to reproduce the problem, but here is a crash dump from
a 2.6.32 kernel.

On examining the ata port's state, its hsm_task_state field has a value of HSM_ST_IDLE:

Normally, this should not be possible as ata_sff_hsm_move() was called from ata_sff_host_intr(),

clockevents_increase_min_delta() calls printk() from under
hrtimer_bases.lock. That causes lock inversion on scheduler locks because

call_break_hook is called in atomic context (hard irq disabled), so replace
the sleepable lock to rcu lock, replace relevant list operations to rcu
version and call synchronize_rcu() in unregister_break_hook().

Sebastian reported a crash caused by a jump label mismatch after resume.
This happens because we do not save the kernel text section during suspend
and therefore also do not restore it during resume, but use the kernel image
that restores the old system.

This means that after a suspend/resume cycle we lost all modifications done
to the kernel text section.
The reason for this is the pfn_is_nosave() function, which incorrectly
returns that read-only pages don't need to be saved. This is incorrect since
we mark the kernel text section read-only.
We still need to make sure to not save and restore pages contained within
NSS and DCSS segment.
To fix this add an extra case for the kernel text section and only save
those pages if they are not contained within an NSS segment.

Fixes the following crash (and the above bugs as well):

Dave Chinner has properly pointed out that this is a deadlock in the
reclaim code because ext4 doesn't submit pages which are marked by
PG_writeback right away.

The heuristic was introduced by commit e62e384 ("memcg: prevent OOM
with too many dirty pages") and it was applied only when may_enter_fs
was specified.  The code has been changed by c3b94f4 ("memcg:
further prevent OOM with too many dirty pages") which has removed the
__GFP_FS restriction with a reasoning that we do not get into the fs
code.  But this is not sufficient apparently because the fs doesn't
necessarily submit pages marked PG_writeback for IO right away.

ext4_bio_write_page calls io_submit_add_bh but that doesn't necessarily
submit the bio.  Instead it tries to map more pages into the bio and
mpage_map_one_extent might trigger memcg charge which might end up
waiting on a page which is marked PG_writeback but hasn't been submitted
yet so we would end up waiting for something that never finishes.

Fix this issue by replacing __GFP_IO by may_enter_fs check (for case 2)
before we go to wait on the writeback.  The page fault path, which is
the only path that triggers memcg oom killer since 3.12, shouldn't
require GFP_NOFS and so we shouldn't reintroduce the premature OOM
killer issue which was originally addressed by the heuristic.

As per David Chinner the xfs is doing similar thing since 2.6.15 already
so ext4 is not the only affected filesystem.  Moreover he notes:

: For example: IO completion might require unwritten extent conversion
: which executes filesystem transactions and GFP_NOFS allocations. The
: writeback flag on the pages can not be cleared until unwritten
: extent conversion completes. Hence memory reclaim cannot wait on
: page writeback to complete in GFP_NOFS context because it is not
: safe to do so, memcg reclaim or otherwise.

Dave Chinner has properly pointed out that this is a deadlock in the
reclaim code because ext4 doesn't submit pages which are marked by
PG_writeback right away.

The heuristic was introduced by commit e62e384 ("memcg: prevent OOM
with too many dirty pages") and it was applied only when may_enter_fs
was specified.  The code has been changed by c3b94f4 ("memcg:
further prevent OOM with too many dirty pages") which has removed the
__GFP_FS restriction with a reasoning that we do not get into the fs

Dave Chinner has properly pointed out that this is a deadlock in the
reclaim code because ext4 doesn't submit pages which are marked by
PG_writeback right away.

The heuristic was introduced by commit e62e384 ("memcg: prevent OOM
with too many dirty pages") and it was applied only when may_enter_fs
was specified.  The code has been changed by c3b94f4 ("memcg:
further prevent OOM with too many dirty pages") which has removed the
__GFP_FS restriction with a reasoning that we do not get into the fs
code.  But this is not sufficient apparently because the fs doesn't
necessarily submit pages marked PG_writeback for IO right away.

ext4_bio_write_page calls io_submit_add_bh but that doesn't necessarily
submit the bio.  Instead it tries to map more pages into the bio and
mpage_map_one_extent might trigger memcg charge which might end up
waiting on a page which is marked PG_writeback but hasn't been submitted
yet so we would end up waiting for something that never finishes.

Fix this issue by replacing __GFP_IO by may_enter_fs check (for case 2)
before we go to wait on the writeback.  The page fault path, which is
the only path that triggers memcg oom killer since 3.12, shouldn't
require GFP_NOFS and so we shouldn't reintroduce the premature OOM
killer issue which was originally addressed by the heuristic.

As per David Chinner the xfs is doing similar thing since 2.6.15 already
so ext4 is not the only affected filesystem.  Moreover he notes:

: For example: IO completion might require unwritten extent conversion
: which executes filesystem transactions and GFP_NOFS allocations. The
: writeback flag on the pages can not be cleared until unwritten
: extent conversion completes. Hence memory reclaim cannot wait on
: page writeback to complete in GFP_NOFS context because it is not
: safe to do so, memcg reclaim or otherwise.

We can end up allocating a new compression stream with GFP_KERNEL from
within the IO path, which may result is nested (recursive) IO
operations.  That can introduce problems if the IO path in question is a
reclaimer, holding some locks that will deadlock nested IOs.

If we hold the superblock lock while calling reiserfs_quota_on_mount(), we can
deadlock our own worker - mount blocks kworker/3:2, sleeps forever more.

If we hold the superblock lock while calling reiserfs_quota_on_mount(), we can
deadlock our own worker - mount blocks kworker/3:2, sleeps forever more.

We can end up allocating a new compression stream with GFP_KERNEL from
within the IO path, which may result is nested (recursive) IO
operations.  That can introduce problems if the IO path in question is a
reclaimer, holding some locks that will deadlock nested IOs.

Allocate streams and working memory using GFP_NOIO flag, forbidding
recursive IO and FS operations.

When we try to open a file with O_TMPFILE flag, we will trigger a bug.
The root cause is that in ext4_orphan_add() we check ->i_nlink == 0 and
this check always fails because we set ->i_nlink = 1 in
inode_init_always().  We can use the following program to trigger it:

Here we couldn't call clear_nlink() directly because in d_tmpfile() we
will call inode_dec_link_count() to decrease ->i_nlink.  So this commit
tries to call d_tmpfile() before ext4_orphan_add() to fix this problem.
