Add continuous endpoint

This PR adds the continuous endpoint (plus testing, documentation), and fixes a testing error that was not caught in the previous PR.

Great! I tweaked the README examples to return df, which explicitly tells the reader each function will return a dataframe. Your approach is better for real code. I also made minor edits to the get_continous summary doc.
