# Introducing AI Guidelines

## Learning Objectives

```objectives
- [ ] Read through the [AI guidelines for ITP](https://curriculum.codeyourfuture.io/itp/welcome/prep/#acceptable-ai-use)
- [ ] Explain how we can use AI in acceptable ways whilst we're learning on the ITP
- [ ] Give examples of how we can check we're using AI in acceptable ways for our learning journey.
- [ ] Can navigate to the wider AI usage guidelines in the curriculum
```

In this workshop we will read guidelines, discuss, and ask questions around how we use AI during the ITP.

## Read through our ITP AI use guidelines and discuss

**Individually, for 5 minutes** read through the [guidelines for AI use on the ITP](https://curriculum.codeyourfuture.io/itp/welcome/prep/#acceptable-ai-use).

<!--{{<note type="activity" title="Class Discussion, 10m" >}}-->

After the 5 minutes is up, **set a timer for 10 minutes.** As a group discussing the following questions:

1. What more general skills we are trying to build during the ITP (_which AI use could disrupt_)?
2. What is an example of **acceptable** AI use?
3. What kind of AI use is **not acceptable** during the ITP?
4. How can you check if AI use is disrupting your learning?

Mostly considering the London cohort, do you think it would be productive to have this discussion with 40 trainees? Or is it worth adding a stipulation to suggest groups no bigger than 10, maybe?

There might be multiple different approaches to the questions. Discuss and see if there is a consensus across the group.

**The facilitator** should then start a Slack thread for their region within the ITP channel. Everyone should use this thread to post any questions about AI use that they have.

**Set another timer for 10 minutes**, you don't need to use the full 10 minutes if you finish before. Discussing as a whole group any queries that were raised in that Slack thread.

## Stretch: Find the wider AI usage guidelines

If you have time to spare, **spend 5 minutes in pairs** navigating the curriculum.

Task: find the "AI Usage Guidelines" in the CYF Guides.

And when you've found it, answer the following question:

> What question can you ask yourself to check if you are using AI appropriately?
