Bug: App preferences not being saved

Problem:
Application preferences aren't being saved after being set within xpipe.

I can reproduce the following across two separate Arch systems:

• Open xpipe
• Set terminal emulator to Ptyxis
• Set text editor to VSCodium
• Close xpipe
• Wait 5 seconds
• Open xpipe
• Check preferences - terminal emulator reset to Konsole, text editor reset to Kate

System:
Arch Linux w/ KDE.

I've tried using the Clear cache option, and also formatted one of my systems to rule out a config issue on my KDE.
This is reproducible on a newly installed fresh system (minutes of uptime).
