Can’t create a volume with new NVMe disk #1629

@fanni2020

Description

@fanni2020

I’ve been using VeraCrypt for a few years, but I have never seen a similar error.
Previously, I used a flash drive, but now I bought an NVMe for faster performance.

Expected behavior

Successfully format the disk and create a new encrypted volume.

Observed behavior

Can’t format and see the problem: “Read-only file system” - “VeraCrypt::File::Write:395”.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Encrypt a non-system partition/drive
  2. Standart VeraCrypt volume
  3. Select a Partition or Device
  4. Encryption algorithm: AES with hash: SHA-512.
  5. Large Files -> YES
  6. Filesystem Mac OS Extended and also try APFS
  7. I will mount the volume only on Mac OS X and also try Cross platform
  8. Click “Format,” wait 5 seconds, and see the error: “Read-only file system - VeraCrypt::File::Write:395.”
