ExtensionState always Empty

Get-BrowserExtensionInfo

This script is exactly what I'm looking for, but it seems to always return an ExtensionState="". I believe this should be a 0 or a 1. I've tried to execute this while running Powershell as Admin, but that didn't change the results. I'm running this on Windows 11 24H2.

Here's an example of the results from my machine where these two Chrome extensions were Enabled:

Thanks for pointing out that the ExtensionState field is empty for Chrome browsers.

I've looked into this. The ExtensionState is populated from the field state in the file Preferences, which is located in the browser profile directory. It seems that Chrome is not maintaining the state field anymore. It's absent for all installed extensions. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a replacement, i.e., I'm not aware of any other field in the browser profile that indicates whether an extension is enabled or not.

Please let us know if you're aware of something that might help.

Actually, I did found something just a few days ago.

In the Secure Preferences file - but on my work computer it's just the Preferences file(?) - look under extensions then settings then select the ID of the extension you are interested in. IF there is an object named "disable_reasons", then the extension is disabled. If that object is not there, then the extension is enabled.

My nomenclature is not correct, but you get the idea.

Interesting. Searching for disable_reasons I just found this. Could be useful. I'll try to incorporate it into the script.
