Hi! Yes, this can be made to work with any ECU(standalone or oem or otherwise) and its current state works with separate analog and ecu signal for RPM, VSS, and fuel level. CANBUS functionality can be added and I will keep working this project. I am currently on vacation but will add to this more as the weeks progress

FYI, most standalones have available analog outputs and if you look into yours, it probably has 5v signals sent out that you can connect from the ecu to the arduino easily.

Ex: Like a 5v analog signal from your boost sender -> ecu -> analog output -> arduino pin a4

Yes, that's absolutely right, because now we have VDO analogue gauges in the middle of the dashboard for RPM, oil pressure and battery voltage, but we want to integrate this where the original gauges were, while maintaining good visual visibility with clear notifications if the oil pressure or temperature gets too high.
So I can definitely test it out as you have designed it.

I added an ino file for the arduino to talk with Haltech CANBUS just now. It is a draft and based off common/default haltech outputs. Two things with that,

1. I need someone to test it as I do not have a haltech or canbus
2. Any one trying to connect to CAN would need to convert the arduino into a can node. That wouldnt be too difficult and would only require a 10$ piece of hardware(https://a.co/d/79GB7Nr)

I will provide more info on it later next week.

TLDR; I made a Haltech ino for the arduino, and will be able to make ino's for specific standalones based off their outputs via can.

I have a Nexus R3 and could try this out. I need to build the whole screen, but once I get it all set up I can test it on my car. I am a little bit tempted to port this into Rust too, just to try it out and see if it's more performant.

Yes, Canbus and analog would be possible and the arduino could handle it. I go over what is needed for Canbus and the code would need to be updated to handle both as its current state is one config file for Analog/digital and one for Canbus.

Basically, the code would be a combination of both configs for what youre looking for.

"Compilation error: mcp)can.h: No such file or directory" I get this message when trying to verify (or upload) the Haltech_To_Arduino_DRAFT.ino Is there a file missing in the Github? (line 29 in the ino file)

Hoping to integrate this into a Haltech Elite 2500 setup I have in an EZ30R powered 09 Impreza. I lost an engine a few months ago because there is no temp gauge in the base model Impreza, just a blue and red light that haltech doesn't communicate with. So hoping this will get me better informed without having to put gauge pods in the car.

I'll play the guinea pig, the CAN module for the arduino won't be here until thrusday, as well as the HDMI screen, since it doesn't seem to like my ribbon cable screen for the Pi, but either way I should have everything running next weekend and will be able to let you know what happens.
