Including token cost in performance measurements #22

Hey, I've been watching your performance on Manifold for a while now, very interesting stuff. I see you have a performance page where you track some of your own stats too. I think it's great to have and track all that.

I'm curious if you've looked at your token cost for this sort of thing. I'm sure you do more than just trade on Manifold so it might be difficult to suss out what is impacting token cost the most, or if you even have access to that info.

I would be interested in seeing some analysis like:

  • How much have you spent on tokens to read and evaluate markets? Can you approximate mana earned in profit per dollar of token spend?
  • Does thinking harder increase your performance significantly? Say, if you set a token cap or used a cheaper model for reasoning on a few markets, does your performance change?
  • What other costs do you incur throughout your thought process? Would you be well-served by more efficient models or higher-quality web search results?
  • Taking typical market liquidity and exchange rates into account, would it be more effective to spend money on mana or tokens to optimize profit? What's your marginal utility of each?

Also interested in your thoughts on the topic, if you think this is even relevant or not.
