Please tell us about yourself (include an email address):
My name is Abdellah Benaoussar. I am a developer building an Islamic reference application. You can reach me at ryzben@gmail.com.
Your purpose in using this API:
I am building an Islamic reference application similar to Islamref.org — a platform where users can ask questions and get answers sourced directly from the Quran, Hadith, and Tafsir. The Sunnah.com API will serve as the primary authenticated hadith data source for the app, ensuring that all hadith content displayed to users is verified and properly referenced. The goal is to make authentic Islamic knowledge accessible in a clean, modern interface.
API rate limits:
- Maximum requests per second: 2
- Maximum requests per day: 1000
Is your use case better served by having an offline dump of hadith data or programmatic API access?
Programmatic API access is preferred, as the application will serve dynamic user queries in real time and needs to retrieve specific hadiths based on user input.
What are the languages in which would you like hadith data?
English and Arabic are the primary languages needed. Additional languages such as Urdu may be considered in future versions of the application.
What programming language will your API client be in?
JavaScript (Node.js) for the backend, with potential use of Python for data processing and integration tasks.
