Description

When trying to patch planetbase with the mod patcher I get the following error :

I've tried with and without "Execute as admin"

If you have time to look at this that would be really nice !

Step to reproduce

I'm on Windows 11 Pro 23H2

• Reinstall or verify files for Planetbase (version is 1.4.0)
• Execute ModPatcher
• Select Assembly-CSharp.dll
• Click Update Framework
• Quick loading bar and no message printed
• Click Patch
• Exception is thrown, and the window appears

Hi @Gamax42. I really appreciate you taking the time to fill out a bug report with all info needed to accurately reproduce the issue, and chase down the root cause.

When Planetbase 1.4.0 released, the underlying game engine was replaced with a version that's about a decade newer than the old one. This new engine brought about a large number of changes that broke compatibility with existing software, such as this patcher.

Unfortunately I am no longer updating any projects related to Planetbase. You, or anybody else encountering this issue, have a few options:

• Switch to UMM. While I haven't used this myself, my understanding is that some other folks have used it successfully with Planetbase. Switching requires that any mods you use are compatible with both the new Planetbase version, and this mod manager. That said, from what I've heard, most other Planetbase mod authors are "retired" from this game, or otherwise not prioritizing Planetbase mod updates anymore.
• Revert your installation back to 1.3.8. This uses the previous engine and thus should remain compatible.
• File a PR to add 1.4.0 compatibility. While I'm not making new features or fixing bugs, I am willing to review PRs, merge them, and cut releases. This is the first section that needs to be updated, though there are likely many other compatibility issues that need to be addressed.

All right, thanks for your response, I'll probably switch back to 1.3.8, the enhancements brought by updating Unity to a more recent version aren't worth losing the mods. In fact I was expecting it, but this post seemed to hint that the mod patcher was compatible with 1.4.0. I wanted to make sure.
