Rust Embedded folks met virtually on February 28 2026 to work on the Rust Embedded "Bookshelf". This discussion documents completed and ongoing related work.

Agenda

• Do as complete a survey as possible of existing resources. Identify overlaps and important gaps.
• Identify out-of-date content and plan its disposition.
• Review issues and PRs for book repos.
• Reorganize the main bookshelf page.
• Try to find commitments from specific people to shepherd specific resources going forward. Develop a maintenance plan for this stuff.

Fix overlap between rust-embedded.github.io/ and https://rust-embedded.org/bookshelf/ — former should point to latter; link at top of new bookshelf points back to rust-embedded.org . We need to sort this out ­— at the very least, remove the old bookshelf page.

Fixed by replacing docs.rust-embedded.org (aka rust-embedded.github.io) with a redirect to our homepage which hosts the new bookshelf and FAQs.

Embedded Book

• Make it canonical on setup and install
• Aim it at some embedded + some Rust target audience
• Develop it through a series of meetings to go chapter-by-chapter

• Remove dead-stale chapters
• Update remaining chapters
• "Not really a nomicon" — make intro clearly state that this is a bottom level "true bare metal" guide for true embedded metalheads (with moderate Rust familiarity) rather than a collection of arcana
• Develop it through a series of meetings to go chapter-by-chapter

• Ask for volunteers to add FAQ questions with draft answers, and to correct existing answers
• Ask for volunteers for weekly chapter-by-chapter review/rewrite of the Embedded Book
