Leaflet clusters doesn't work anymore

Especially in bigger cities there seem to be 2nd clusters with fewer people overlaying the clusters with more people, making it look like there are not a lot of people.

I already re-geo-coded all users, but it does not seem to be a problem with the geocoder giving new coords.

This leaves the leaflet cluster plugin to behave weirdly??

thinking about creating an json api route and refactoring the map views into a Vue app. I have a gut feeling that the incorrect clustering stems from reading the dom elements.
