Pressing Escape on various prompts no longer cancels the process.

I'm ~90% sure this worked fine a few months ago, so I suspect some VSCode update recently may have broken this behavior.

@rsubtil Can you give a small example for which command you have this experience?
If you don't get an abort what is the result you get from the pick/prompt?
Very unlikely that VSC does not allow Esc to end the UI, but maybe they have chosen to return null instead of undefined.

Based on 103 I will try with pickStringRemember and the latest version of VSC.

@rsubtil I found the cause of the problem. It is a bug in VSC introduced in 2025-03-18

@roussak only use "checkEscapedUI": true if you have a complex/multi command UI.
Do not use it in the first command of the task/launch.
Your case is simple/single command UI. remove that line.

Well, after I removed the "checkEscapedUI" it works. But, how then can I interrupt the task execution on the stage of the string prompting?

@roussak That is the bug they introduced in VSC. See the VSC issue linked. If the bug creator will not fix it I will add a Pull Request with the bug line corrected.
