urpm thought that nothing needed to be done when asking to install new msec and msec-gui from updates_testing

The previous time that msec and msec-gui needed to be installed from updates_testing, it worked fine.

Oh, the previous time I did first run "urpm u" with updates_testing enabled, but stopped it after the packages to be updated were listed. Then did I install them with "urpm i msec msec-gui". Haven't tried that this time.

Indeed, after first running "urpm u" and stopping as soon as the available packages are listed, doing:
urpm i msec-2.18-1.mga10.x86_64 msec-gui-2.18-1.mga10.x86_64
works fine.

Shouldn't "urpm i msec msec-gui" have installed the newer version from updates_testing, right after having run "urpm m u" with updates_testing enabled?

It worked only when first running "urpm u", stopping after the updates from testing are listed (because the other updates are not wanted) and then running "urpm i msec msec-gui" again.

You can narrow what you update with urpm u msec-gui => it will narrow the upgrade to msec-gui and its required dependencies.

And to identify available upgrades beforehand you can run urpm list upgradable or urpm u --download-only (the second one does download rpm files and makes them available)
