INDIA map boundaries in plotly are not accurate as per latest official map of INDIA.
Refer below points

• Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh depiction is incorrect
• Andaman & Nicobar Islands are missing
• Lakshadweep Islands are missing

Description

The default India map boundaries rendered in Plotly (geo / choropleth maps) appear to be inaccurate and not aligned with the latest official boundaries of India.

This can lead to incorrect or misleading visualizations for users working with India-specific geographic data.

Observed Issues

Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh depiction is incorrect
Boundaries do not reflect the current administrative structure (post-2019 reorganization into two Union Territories).
Certain regions appear truncated or misrepresented.
Andaman & Nicobar Islands are missing
These islands are not visible in the default map rendering.
Lakshadweep Islands are missing
These islands are also not shown in the map output.

Expected Behavior

India’s map should reflect:
Accurate administrative boundaries (including Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh as separate UTs)
Inclusion of all territories, including:
Andaman & Nicobar Islands
Lakshadweep Islands

Thanks for the report! Our default topojson is built from data sourced from the UN with a date stamp of 2023. I haven't found a more recent data set from the UN, so that's the best option we have at the moment. Territorial boundaries can be a touchy subject, which is why we opted to use the UN as our source of truth. If the UN maps gets updated, we'll update the topojson in this library.

Regarding the missing islands and such, the data resolution might be to blame. Some smaller features get filtered out because they become single points when the resolution is too low. As before, we're using the data we get from the UN and if those islands aren't being included by them, they won't show up in the default topojson. If you'd prefer to use different topojson for those traces, the library provides the option to point it to a different source.
