issue with sprites

every time i try to import my sprites to coilsnake, it keeps saying wrong color palette or something so i used the spritegroup website that apparently fixes it but instead its colors is fucked up again. can anyone help?

In order of importance for getting this to work easily:

• CoilSnake only supports using PNGs made in "indexed color" -- the PNG has to have a separation between the color palette and the pixel values internally. It's especially important that you create overworld sprites, in the SpriteGroups folder, with an image editor that can show you this separate color palette all on its own and that won't edit it or reorder it or remake it. Many popular image editors like Paint.NET don't show you the color palette, and will happily reorder it or eliminate it according to their whims. (A few recommendations for image editors are listed on the "introduction" page of the tutorial on the wiki.)
• Palettes for overworld sprites in EarthBound are very limited in how you can change them. The game loads 7 normal sprite palettes and 1 map-specific palette when a map is loaded, and then those palettes are what every sprite has to use. You can't really add a new overworld sprite palette, because 8 is the max that the SNES can handle at one time. So if none of the existing palettes work for your purposes, you need to replace one of them with your own palette. (Palettes 5 and 6 are nearly identical, so you may want to replace one of them with your own sprites' palettes, and change over all sprites currently using one palette to use the other.)
• For the YML thing... you may get a more specific indication of which part of CoilSnake is complaining by turning on the "Debug Mode" setting (Settings --> Enable Debug Mode) and compiling the ROM again. If the error message includes references to the "SpriteGroupModule," for example, you'd want to check files that involve edits to the sprite groups for weirdness, like sprite_group_palettes.yml.
