Bring back the ‘classic menu’ that was standard in Cinnamon 6.4.13.

A GUI menu item or terminal command that resets the start menu to Classic.

With the release of Cinnamon version 6.6.4 today on LMDE7 (and perhaps also LM22.2), the start menu has been significantly changed.

There may be some who prefer the new menu variant, but I suspect that they will be in the minority.

I would like to suggest an update, distributed via the update manager, that reverts the menu to the style used up to Cinnamon 6.4.13.

For those who prefer the new menu, it could perhaps be made activatable via a GUI menu item or terminal command.

Go download the old one from Spices. We're not going to maintain two versions for core Cinnamon applets.

It already is easy for users to implement.

Settings->Applets->Download. Search for it, download it, activate it.

That solution is known, see above and give back about 95% of classic menu, but need extra software. Maybe the next version of this app will give back 100% of the classic menu.

How many is many? I've seen as 'many' in support of the new design as against. I repeat, it's trivial to go back to the old menu.

Things change. Who knows, in the future they may align with what the 'many' want again, but probably end up upsetting the other 'many'. You can't win.

In my opinion, in the medium term, this should not only be installable as an applet, but should replace the new menu by default.
