It would be great if Mint's Update Manager could hook into fwupd and allow the user to easily install firmware updates. Having this functionality built into the Update Manager would make it easier for newcomers to keep their firmware securely up-to-date.
GNOME Software and KDE Discover already have this functionality, so it mustn't be that difficult to implement. Currently the only graphical option available for a Mint user (AFAIK) is to install gnome-firmware via the Software Manager, but the app's UI doesn't fit Mint's style and it's also not that easy to use.
If the feature is in fact hard to implement, in the interim it could be an option to have Mint come with gnome-firmware preinstalled. Not having any graphical utility to upgrade firmware by default feels like a grave oversight to me, there may be a myriad users stuck on insecure firmware who don't even know they should update.
