n8n Integration: Automation Without Heavy Engineering

Goal

Enable users to automate workflows across OpenCloud and external services using n8n, reducing the need for custom engineering and manual processes.

Problem

Users rely on manual workflows or custom integrations to connect OpenCloud with business tools (CRM, messaging, AI services, storage, etc.). Building and maintaining integrations requires engineering resources and slows adoption of automation use cases.

• Connect OpenCloud to existing SaaS and AI tooling
• Enable power users and admins to build workflows independently

@tbsbdr agreed with @hodyroff, n8n is not open source, seems weird for the opencloud team to prioritize this sort of integration.

Versioning controls, e2ee/vaults, and other missing core features are more useful for the majority of users.

I don't think we need to discuss this in length, just keep in mind:

n8n Integration has a pretty limited scope. I've worked on it for not even a week and it's more less done for now and pretty powerful already.

While working on it, I could work on some long standing issues/limitations of the graph api and fixed some new found ones, which now benefits other integrations and clients.

The features you are talking about are on a completely different complexity and long term maintenance level than the n8n integration.

Sure. I don't mean to belittle your/the team's efforts.

Its just, there are some things which are a real quality of life matter, which seem to have been deprioritized. Versioning control is a real issue for example, right now files just keep building up. Conceptually, its just a script which purges according to a retention schedule, very simple. But, this issue has been open for a long time opencloud-eu/opencloud#1419

And, I am more frustrated by the fact that the ios development is just so neglected. I opened a PR for custom headers. Took weeks to get even a cursory review, and then back to silence for weeks now (from multiple team members). For something which is a extraordinarily simple implementation, too: https://github.com/orgs/opencloud-eu/discussions/2557

Anyways, I generally like the things the team is doing, but some focus on the core features and platforms would be well appreciated.

I am not a big fan of n8n. Would love more agentic way, where one has can go back in time and has isolated spaces agents (in opencloud) can work with (git like fashion). Opencode + opencode-swarm is one good example. Future will be more packages based (with skills.md and binaries) that one downloads and get used.
