Python 3 support?

Hi,

is the package compatible to recent Python 3 versions, or is this planned?

I've just forked this repo and created what I think is a Python2 and 3 compatible version. The basic work was done by others but that was not backwards compatible with Python2. Fixed that and incorporated some other useful edits.
Also working on giza because that looks OK but has a few bugs in it.

I've opened that quite some time ago but 'npat' hasn't responded to it yet.

Thank you! @sabourke, would you consider using #2 in your Debian package? And how about moving this directly into Debian?
