Enhance UI/UX for Upload Notifications

Current behavior (Single-file control, queue continues)

Upload notification is designed around single-file control, while the Upload List screen can be used for managing all uploads. This is intentional, but it’s worth walking through the different UX paths and why some are better suited for certain surfaces than others.

• Each upload has its own notification.
• User can pause or cancel that specific file.
• If one upload is paused or canceled, the remaining files continue uploading.
• For more complex actions (resume, remove all, pause all), the user goes to the Upload List screen.

Use case: Pause or cancel all uploads from notification

• User suddenly has very slow or unstable internet.
• User wants to stop everything immediately with one tap.

Possible solution:

Add a “Pause all” / “Cancel all” button to the notification.

Use case: Pausing many individual uploads

• User uploads 50 files.
• User pauses 10 specific uploads.

And user wants to have 10 paused upload notifications so that they can resume from notification not Upload list screen and one ongoing upload notification.

In my opinion notifications are meant for fast, low-decision actions. Adding button for all scenarious would be not good.

Lets discuss UI/UX for these use cases. @kra-mo @ZetaTom @tobiasKaminsky

I find the "As-Is" solution more than appropriate. The notification per file strategy could be overwhelming if not implemented right. My use-case is uploading hundreds of photos after some events I attend (in batches of 500 due to the hard constraint). I can't imagine receiving 500 notifications at once from the point of performance and usability. Current system provides just enough information for a notification. Pausing one or several uploads out of many is a very specific use-case for the notification system.

I agree and just to clarify, second use case is not suggesting a separate notification for every file by default.

The idea is:

• Uploading 50 files → one notification for the queue.
• If the user pauses a specific file, a new notification appears only for that paused file.
• The original queue notification continues for the remaining uploads.
• Each additional pause would add another paused notification. So that user can "resume or discard" from that new notification.

In my opinion the current behavior still better. Notifications can easily become cluttered as users interact more, and showing multiple notifications, even when triggered by user actions, can hurt overall UX and lets see other ideas about it.

That sounds a bit strange from UX perspective. Am I understanding this wrong?

In my humble opinion, as a user, I should be able to

1. ... discard notifications and still be able to easily perform all actions from inside the app, so I can keep my notification center clean through the day, until I can take care of Nextcloud again.
2. ... resume from the place where I paused from, so I can easily resume from a place I already know.
3. ... resume from some list view that shows all paused uploads, so I can find paused uploads that I forgot about and / or see all paused uploads without navigating through directories too much.

But that's just my three cents from a regular user. Thanks for all the work!
