[Bug] v0.4.0 update blocked my internet connection

Problem

• Updating from v0.4.0 from v0.3.2 blocks my connection to the internet
• e.g. ping duckduckgo.com results in 100% packet loss
• using internal DNS names for mesh devices seem to be fine (able to ping)
• Retested by uninstalling and reinstalling v0.3.2 (which works) and upgrading to v0.4.0 (doesn't work)
• Tested again by uninstalling and reinstalling v0.4.0 to check if there's misconfigured settings made in v0.3.2 that borked v0.4.0, but that doesn't work either

Device affected

• Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold
  • GrapheneOS, build number 2026040301
  • Android 16
  • kernel version 6.1.166-android14-11-gc2a63a5bb1f3, Fri Mar 27 00:25:50 UTC 2026)

  Note: I have yet to test on other Android devices

• Connected to a self-hosted server running management server on Docker, on 0.68.1
• Installed v0.4.0 using Github releases via Obtainium, currently locked to v0.3.2

The same thing happened to me with an A14.
What I've noticed is that if you click on "Disable client routes" in the advanced options, you'll have internet access but won't be able to access your other network devices.
I assume it's an issue with some internal routing rule, though I'm just guessing here.
Based on this, what I did was set up an exit node and connect to it from the mobile app; that way, you get both the internet connection and access to the rest of your Netbird network devices.

I also can reproduce the problem and the solution (set explicit exit node). For me this is IMHO a high priority bug, me running through the family, modifying VPN settings.

Yup same issue here. This is a major issue which mostly breaks the functionality of the app. It only works if you use one node as a permanent exit node which I clearly do not want.
Idk why there are no reactions here so far.

Disabling the force relay connection helped me temporarily. That doesn't change the fact that it needs to be fixed.

+1 Same issue here. I can reach devices on netbird but have no connection to the outside internet. Resolved by downgrading to v0.3.2

Hi, I have tested the version from the CI zip and the issue seems to be resolved. I can connect to both the internet and devices on the network both with and without an exit node active. My server is selfhosted (Management v0.68.1; Dashboard v2.36.0).
