My current situation is: I have one hub and 5 nodes, placed in different places, managed by the same company. Our goal is to use NetAlertX to receive notifications if a new device appears in any of the places. It often happens that laptops move from a place to another.
My initial thought was that the hub was capable of sending "New Device" notifications for any new discovered AND synced device, but it seems that, when a new device is added as a result of a node synchronization, the only event that is produced on the hub is the "Connected" one, and not the "New Device" one - that one is only produced on the node itself. So my workaround now is to enable notifications on every node, but if a device appears on 3 places in different times, I will then receive 3 "New Device" notifications. Not a big deal, it will eventually disappear once the laptop is discovered by every node, but a little bit annoying.
Describe the solution you'd like
It would be great if the hub could produce a "New Device" event for a new device that comes from any node (if the hub does not already have it in its global database). In this way I can disable notifications on every node and let the hub understand if this is really the first time this device was encountered on the entire network, and alert us, so that we no longer receive duplicate notifications for the same devices.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Not at the moment.
Anything else?
Nope! :)
Am I willing to test this? 🧪
Can I help implement this? 👩💻👨💻
