Should I wait for the refactor to finish before contributing?

I'm interested in contributing more to the project. I know there is an ongoing refactor and I wasn't sure whether it's better to wait before contributing. I'd still love to help out, so I wanted to ask whether now is a good time to start contributing, and if there are any issues that are less likely to be affected by the refactor.

I recently worked on issue #7596, and I'd like to keep contributing in places that would actually be helpful.
