plot no longeer works using windows and ggplot2 4.0.0

@JackADaniels I have just updated the dev version, which should now fix the & error and the deprecated aes_() warning. Please give it a try and let me know if anything is still off.

And in case you run into additional plotting warnings, it may help to also update other dependent packages such as patchwork and ggforce.
