No console output on PHP errors if testdox is set to true

When I have testdox set to true, I just receive a "Testing Failed" message in the console, however if I set it to false, then I receive php errors directly into the console which is the ideal behavior.. Is there a way to keep testdox on, yet also have PHP errors outputted to console? thanks!
