Get Image Size API crashed and cannot align the image vertically toward the bottom (e.g. for a square book image in a typical 1.5 length x 1.0 width book aspect ratio slot in app.
Repro Steps
ISSUE TITLE: Cover Image Stretching and Alignment
Details:
Book cover images are cropped or misaligned due to varying aspect ratios; the desired behavior is to display the full image, bottom-aligned, with white space as needed. React Native for Windows crashes when trying to get the size of a local image, which blocks a proper solution.
Expected Results:
When you use "Get Size" from React Native, it would assist Kindle to "right size" the book cover images especially if a book cover is square 1:1 ratio, it would add white spaces toward the top and bottom so a most typical 1.5 length x 1.0 width book cover slot in the app would look normal with the square image.
After that they would like to align the image to the bottom, not centered in vertically.
Actual Results:
The React "Get Size" call would crash the RNW Windows app from Kindle team. Therefore they cannot proceed to resize and reposition the book image.
_CRITICAL PRIORITY (3P partner Amazon): _
This is the most critical bug to Amazon Kindle React Native for Windows team. Their app is to release this app to self host (inside AMZN and with Windows MSFT FTEs in early FEBRUARY 2026 - for GA app release date of APRIL 2026).
