Seeed XIAO nRF52840 + Wio-SX1262 not working as repeater?

Board: Seeed XIAO nRF52840 Sense + Wio-SX1262
Firmware: MeshCore 1.15
Role: Repeater
Works as companion: yes (RX and TX works fine)
Works as repeater: no (my heltec V2 can't hear it)

Heltec V2 repeater works fine in same location with the same antenna.

Did:
Factory reset
Tried different Repeater versions.
Tried OTAFIX bootloaders as well.

I always thought its a hw issue on my end but have been using it as companion BLE for two days with no issues many contacts made. Always using same antennas to try to isolate issues with that regard.

Can anyone reproduce this behavior? Clean Seeed XIAO nRF52840 Sense + Wio-SX1262 --> erase flash --> flash --> configure USB --> change radio to 869.6179809,62.5,8,8 (same as companion) and send advert. Companion should show new repeater.

I have flashed all previous versions of Meshcore for this board from 1.09 to 1.15 with the same results so it doesn't seem an issue with an update.
thinking I came up with an idea.
RX never triggers (rx_air_secs = 0) across all versions
TX works.

Just for ruling out a hw issue I flashed meshtastic and was getting tx and rx normally.

Adding some info I just found... when I advert from a nearby repeater each adverts increments the recv_errors counter.
I have 4 different antennas and been rotating all of them during testing just to ensure if there is some frequency shift.
