flooded adverts: strategies

In germany some admins recommend to set flooded adverts to 0 in their repeater.
This leads to only 'unknown repeaters' in traceroute.
Their argument is: not needed for a chat network.
And even if flood advert is set to max time of 7 days, this leads to a quite dark network. When travelling, you need to stay a week, permanent online, for seeing a repeater with it's name.

But I like to see the network on the map. It helps finding a covered area, and planning new repeater locations. And it makes fun.

Personaly I don't think I need adverts from 600 km or more.

As solution, I have 3 ideas:

• router adverts in the time range 1 to 6 at night, when most chaters sleep.
• more fine granular config option at the repeater for unscoped flooding: max hops for user adverts, for repeater adverts, for DM path-path-recovery. And max hops for scoped transmissions.
• A new feature 'Scoped adverts' would also solve much of the traffic problem.
  If two users send their advert for exchaning their public key (for being able to send DMs), they could configure how far their advert is visable (region of their city, state (,bundesland'), scope de-north, scope de, ..
  If repeaters would be able to send their advert scoped, then their traffic would also reduce dramatically.

I came here to suggest that adverts are limited to "dead hours" only. I think that would be a massive win.
