Newlines are stripped from notifications

Hey, I noticed already a while ago, that when posts have linebreaks in them, they will get stripped/not forwarded into the notification. This makes the notification text look kinda clunky at times.

I guess this could be fixed at this part:

By excluding the <p> from being stripped?

To reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Get a notification, which has a line break in it
2. Notice that the linebreak is stripped, with the end of the previous line being attached directly to the next line.

I would like to propose a solution. I am wondering tho, how do i log in on the debug build?
It proposes the staging.mastodon.org instance, to which I cannot retrieve any information (because i have to run it locally probably?). How can I log into a normal instance?

You just log in like normal with your existing account. The staging.mastodon.social instance is only used for internal testing of upcoming features.

Second, god, my VPN failed me again. On network change, I won't have connection until I reconnect... solved.

I tried to fix this on thursday, with a friend sending me private messages, when I first couldnt get it to work. Today I created a second account to be able to send messages more reliably, when the messages suddenly had a line break. Is this potentially fixed on serverside at some point? I created both accounts on fosstodon.org, my friend is on ohai.social.

Edit: I created a test account on ohai.social as well, with notifications between accounts on the same instance, line breaks are kept. with notifications from different instances, line breaks are removed at some point.

So it possibly is a server issue?
