I can not find phpize or configure

When following the build instructions. I did not find phpize or configure files.
I found also that I can not compile it through make as the make file is in .gitignore file.

Please try after installed the following packages.

On Fedora/CentOS

yum install php-devel

On Debian/Ubuntu

apt-get install php5-dev
