Favelas e Comunidades Urbanas

Hi! I’m considering opening a PR to add support for downloading the polygons from the "Favelas e Comunidades Urbanas - Censo 2022" dataset, with the option to filter by UF and City.

Does this addition make sense for this project? If so, would it be better to implement it here or in the censobr project?

Hi @giovanniattina . Thanks for opening this issue. If you're referring to the spatial geometries of Favelas e Comunidades Urbanas, then {geobr} would be the appropriate package. Here's a general guide on how to contribute with a PR.

Before you open the PR, though, perhaps we need to clarify which data set exactly you have in mind. The data sets available in IBGE's ftp point to two different zip files:

• poligonos_FCUs_shp.zip > qg_2022_670_fcu_agreg.shp
• FCUs_nao_setorizadas_shp > geopackages_n_setorizadas.shp

Do you know what is the difference between them? and what exactly are 'favelas e comunidades nao setorizadas' ?

The difference between them is whether the census track is classified as FCU or not, right?

A diferença é essa aqui:

• O IBGE teve o cuidado de, sempre que possivel, colocar cada favela/comunidade em único setor censitário exclusivo para ela.
• MAS, quando a favela/comunidade é muito pequena, essa população é contabilizada dentro de um setor censitário comum. Mas o IBGE tambem disponibiliza o poligono dessa favela/comunidade separadamente. Essas seriam as "favelas e comunidades nao setorizadas"

Dada a distinção acima, o ideal seria o geobr disponibilizar as duas informacoes numa unica tabela. A questão é como fazer os ajustes nas colunas.

in the read_favelas() function, we should also include the "aglomerados subnormais" of 2010. Naturlly, it should be explained in the documentation of the function that the concept of aglomerados subnormais has been changed to Favelas e Comunidades Urbanas
