we started getting this error

it usually happens when starting and stopping navigation multiple times.

@ziga-hvalec thanks for reporting this.
Stopping and re-creating navigation session should not recreate the NavigationView. Can you check if navigation view is recreated, causing the issue.
Also make sure old viewcontroller is not used after view is disposed.

Yes. we use react navigation so when navigating back the navigation view is unmounted and mounted again on next navigataion. So all controllers should be re-created

from our testing this seems to be fixed. But we'll need to do more testing to be sure

I was getting this with the latest version (0.12.0), In our case we cleanup the navigation when the application goes in background and the issue was easy to reproduce by switching the app to the background and foreground state back and forth.

here's my workaround:

You were right about the fragment commit handling not being robust enough.
We've addressed the safety issues in this upcoming PR: #524
This updated NavViewManager.java should fix the issue.
