Commits missing Signed-off-by line – needed for downstream projects with DCO requirements

Hello,

We are in the process of importing gtest-parallel into Valkey as a git subtree. However, Valkey requires all third-party code to comply with the Developer Certificate of Origin (DCO), which means every commit must include a Signed-off-by line.

We noticed that many commits in this repository are missing DCO sign-offs, which prevents us from consuming the project without rewriting history.

Would it be possible to update the commit history to include proper Signed-off-by lines? This would allow projects with DCO enforcement to legally and cleanly vendor gtest-parallel.

Hi, I'm no longer with Google and I doubt this project is actively maintained besides contributing changes required by test infrastructure changes. Do you need the DCO/signed-off-by requirement for test-infrastructure dependencies as well?

Could you consider if not bunding gtest-parallel into Valkey at all (even if you do introduce a GoogleTest dependency) and just suggest checking gtest-parallel out for faster test execution? IIUC this doesn't end up in the Valkey product or even test binaries, this project just lets you run the the test binaries in parallel (hopefully faster).

Hope some of that helps. My guess is that a history rewrite is unlikely (missing staffing, hard to tell that signing off on all past changes is feasible to do correctly). Also, rewriting history would also break downstream projects that check out existing hashes which is a likely showstopper.
