About Me

I’m Anoop, a software engineer based in Bengaluru, India, with over 15 years of experience building full-stack applications.. My expertise is primarily in Javascript. I love Javascript.

Bruno

Bruno began as a hobby project. I wanted a simpler tool that focused on doing one thing exceptionally well: being a great API client. During its development, I pioneered a filesystem-based model for storing API collections, enabling a more transparent and developer-friendly way to share and collaborate.

I worked on Bruno quietly for nearly two years before it started gaining traction. Since then, the project has grown far beyond my expectations. Today, Bruno has 40,000+ GitHub stars and is used by over a million developers as their daily driver for API testing.

Why Opensource

I believe open source is the best way to build developer tooling. By developers, For developers. It creates space for open discussion, diverse ideas, and meaningful collaboration. Most importantly, it empowers people to contribute directly through pull requests and shape the tools they rely on.

More broadly, I see open source as an antidote to some of the negative effects of unchecked market capitalism. Making code public is a way of preserving knowledge and progress. It’s our gift to the future, and a commitment to building technology that outlives individual companies.

Additional Information

About Bruno

Bruno is a fast, offline-first, Git-native API client built for developers who value simplicity and control. What sets us apart from the rest of the competition is how it stores API requests: as plain folders and files on your local filesystem. This makes it easy to version, review, and manage API collections alongside your source code using Git, just like any other part of your project.

The broader API client space has drifted away from this simplicity. Many tools have become bloated platforms, packed with features most developers don’t need. What’s been missing is a tool that focuses on doing the core job exceptionally well: making API calls fast and easy to work with.

At the same time, innovation in API clients has largely stalled. Interfaces and workflows have remained mostly unchanged for years. At Bruno, we challenge assumptions from first principles, constantly rethinking how an API client should work. That mindset drives us to innovate relentlessly and continuously raise the bar for developer tooling.
