SimpleSearch giving a 404 when using special characters

Hello! I found a bug in the SimpleSearch plugin. When you type special characters in the search field, such as / and :, the plugin gives a 404, because the adress gets messed up.

I have the same problem - if someone searches for 'A/B testing' - a very common query - it's resulting in a 404. AB Testing results in no results.
