The background selector does not work in the map widget

Description

Created a new map widget and enabled the background.
Once the widget is added to the dashboard and enlarged, the background is no longer visible. Additionally, it is not possible to select alternative backgrounds from the selector.

For the other issue about background selector i've identified the commit that introduced this

Expected Result

to be able to resize mao and select layers in background selector

Current Result

map canvas disappears and clicks does not work anymore on background selector
