[Help] How to use foxyprxy-mode argument in firefox ?

Hello,

I'm a daily user of FoxyProxy with Firefox ESR on Debian and I'm very happy with its feature set.

I'm currently using it with one or two configured proxies.
Those proxies are SOCKS5 proxies without any configured pattern so that any URL I type in address bar is reached through corresponding proxy.
That allows me to access Web apps on remote LANs.

Now, I would like to launch from CLI a firefox instance with a specific proxy enabled.

It seems that Firefox's foxyproxy-mode can be used for that except that it requires a 10 digits proxyid that you can read in foxyproxy.xml.
I can't find any foxyproxy.xml in my host.

1. Am I correct thinking foxyproxy-mode can be used to get what I'm after ?
2. How can I read this proxyid ?

It seems that Firefox's foxyproxy-mode can be used for that except that it requires a 10 digits proxyid that you can read in foxyproxy.xml.

That was on old FoxyProxy.
Now, Firefox stores extension data differently and it is not directly accessible.
New FoxyProxy stores data in a different format as well. You can check the format by exporting FoxyProxy settings.

You can use the Enterprise Policy feature to set a fixed config.

After exporting FoxyProxy settings, I had a JSON file in which I had something like bellow.

Firefox's extension storage is not accessible for direct edit.

• Open Firefox and type about:support in the address bar
• Look for "Profile Folder" (or "Profile Directory") in the Application Basics section
• Click the "Open Folder" or "Show Folder" button next to it to open your file browser directly to the profile
• Extension Data (Settings, Local Storage): storage/default/moz-extensions+++<GUID>

As mentioned before, you can set an enterprise policy and that is accessible to edit from terminal.
However, that is for fixed settings.
