Description

@DominicFarkas

App fails to open after hiding floating menu via long-press on “Fork Client”

Platform
Device: Pixel Fold 10
OS: GrapheneOS / Android 16
Build: 2026030201

Client
Version 12.4.2.0
versionCode 651108

Steps to reproduce

  1. Fresh install or clear app storage.
  2. Log in normally.
  3. Long-press “Fork Client” (top left) to hide the floating menu.
  4. Force close the app or reboot the device.
  5. Reopen the app.

Expected behaviour
The app should launch normally and restore the previous UI state.

Actual Behaviour

  • Splash screen appears but the app fails to load the main activity.
  • Repeated attempts to open the app eventually produce an app crash.
  • Opening from push notifications shows the same behaviour.
  • Push notifications continue to arrive, indicating background services remain active.

Notes

  • The floating menu can be hidden/unhidden during the same session, without issue, until the client is restarted.
  • The issue only occurs after restarting the app or device.
  • Clearing app storage and logging in again restores normal behaviour.

Observation
The issue appears related to restoring the saved floating menu visibility state.

Workaround
Don't hide the floating menu.
